Housing is seeking (1) Assistant Director of Housing: Residential
Community Development to join the already awesome team taking the
department to the next level of excellence!
The Assistant Director for Residential Community Development is a
twelve-month, managerial position. The position's primary purposes
are to oversee the operations of a residential area, direct the
programmatic and service components of a functional area, and
supervise the staff in those areas. University Housing has four
assistant director positions, each of whom directly supervise 3-5
full-time professional staff and oversee a residential area of
1000-2000 residents with 75+student staff. Full-time professional
staff include Coordinators, Residence Hall Directors and Assistant
Hall Directors. This position is also responsible for directing,
developing, implementing and evaluating policies, procedures,
programs and services within the department. The Assistant Director
for Residential Community Development reports directly to the
Associate Director for Residence Life.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
Directs the operation for one residential area on campus (1000-2000
residents); these areas include Edgewood (University Lofts, Patton
Hall, Greek Housing), University Commons, Piedmont Central and
Piedmont North
* Manages staffing, programming and operational budgets in the
amount of approximately $500,000
* Leads/serves on departmental committee and workgroups
* Participates in senior staff 24-hour on call rotation for
residential campus population
* Writes reports, assessments and evaluations of programs, services
and activities in residential area
* Serves on the University Housing director's senior leadership
team, which involves assisting with developing departmental goals,
policies and practices
* Ensures that staff update the University Housing website with
information for designated residential area
* Serves in the absence of the Associate Director of University
Housing as needed
* Prepares and monitors budgets for residential and functional
area
* Participates in departmental/divisional meetings and trainings as
appropriate
* Fulfills other duties or special projects as assigned
Safety and Security, Student Development and Customer Service
* Manages emergency situations and incidents involving residential
students and guests, including communicating with emergency
contacts
* Serves as the first point of contact for professional staff on
duty (particularly after hours and on weekends) in responding to
maintenance, crisis, and emergency situations involving students
living within University housing
* Manages and refers customer service issues, answer questions, and
clarifies policies and procedures
* Manages the student move-in and move-out processes for residence
halls/apartments in their areas
* Designs, implements, and evaluates area-wide programs and
activities in residential areas
* Supports the academic mission of the University, the
co-curricular learning goals and student engagement activities of
the Division of Student Engagement and the University Housing
Residential Curriculum
* Fosters safe, supportive, and inclusive residential
communities
* Collaborates with the Dean of Students Office, Counseling Center,
Georgia State University Police, and other departments and units on
campus in designing and implementing educational and social
programs and services for students
* Serves in various capacities related to student conduct,
including but not limited to: adjudicating cases, working in
conjunction with the Dean of Students office, and assigning
relevant cases to other departmental staff
* Assists staff and students with managing and resolving
emergencies, customer service and personnel issues in their
assigned buildings, desks, and mailrooms
Staff Supervision, Selection, Training, and Development
* Provides vision, direction, and training for a team of full-time
staff (RHDs and AHDs) and student staff in developing and managing
programs, procedures and activities in the residence halls, as well
as student conduct and customer service needs and issues
* Supervises, trains, develops, and evaluates direct reports which
may include a combination of coordinator(s), residence hall
directors, graduate assistant and an administrative specialist
* Designs and leads staff development and evaluation activities,
programs, and processes for the designated area team
* Organizes full-time staff recruitment and selection in residence
life, which includes: regularly reviewing job descriptions and
updating positions, as well as determining placement of full-time
staff in designated area
* Interprets and enforces Community Living Guide and Student
Conduct Code policies, Housing and Panther Meal Contract, and
procedures for staff
* Communicates regularly with full-time staff through meetings,
one-on-ones, and email
FUNCTIONAL AREA RESPONSIBILITIES
Residential Community Development
* Chairs Student and Staff Belonging committee
* Oversees Panther Ambassadors for a Culturally Competent Campus
(PAC3) program, including development of PAC3 curriculum
* Attends and completes certification for intercultural Development
Inventory administration and coaching
* Develops intentional development activities for professional and
para-professional staff members to be conducted at specific
trainings and throughout the year
* Monitors current trends and promising practices and uses
Residential Curriculum and NASPA/ACPA competencies as marks for
goal progress and accomplishment
* Assesses and evaluates learning outcomes
* Collaborates with Cultures, Communities and Inclusion (CCI) on
programs for both staff and residents Disclaimer: This job

Qualifications:
Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Counseling, or Higher
Education Administration or equivalent and four years of related
experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
At least one year of experience must be in a supervisory
capacity.
