Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in Radiology required; less
than 1 year experience in CT preferred License: ARRT Radiography
Certifications: ARRT Computed Tomography, Basic Life Support
Must-Have: Excellent communication skills Ability to function
independently and under pressure Detail-oriented and capable of
multitasking Understanding of anatomy and pathology related to
imaging procedures Competent in all aspects of CT, patient
positioning, exposure factors, and radiation protection
Description: Must be flexible with work hours to meet department
needs. Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Assists
with providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing
all exams according to department procedures. Has the knowledge and
ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study.
Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures
requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in
utilizing equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases.
Able to independently perform job functions. Sets up the equipment
to provide imaging service and positions patients for the
procedure. Verifies proper clinician order for each procedure.
Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination data, and
assesses for contraindicating conditions. Follows established
procedures for the administration of contrast media. Ensures all
studies have proper patient identification and appropriately
utilizes right and left markers. Reviews CT/radiographic images for
clinically acceptable results and releases patients. Responds to
emergency situations and properly restocks and maintains life
support equipment. Assists other technologists in various
modalities when needed. Observes patient conditions and evaluates
situations for physician intervention when necessary. Verifies
patient identity using two unique identifiers before performing
procedures. Ensures patients' privacy and comfort, maintaining
their dignity throughout exams. Demonstrates competence in
determining and applying appropriate procedures, equipment,
supplies, and techniques based on patients' ages. Organizes
schedule and priorities to accomplish required activities within
designated time frames. Follows physicians' instructions during
procedures and exams. Demonstrates proficiency with loading and
operating power injection. Utilizes critical thinking skills in all
aspects of the job. Communicates openly with patients and families.
Asks clarifying questions when needed. Understands and documents
pre-procedural verification and Time Out process when appropriate.
Preps patients for procedures and demonstrates and understands
sterile techniques. Maintains competency with venipuncture. Adjusts
techniques to ensure patients receive the lowest possible dose of
ionizing radiation while maintaining image quality. Reports
malfunctioning equipment to a supervisor or service provider for
timely correction. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment in
accordance with infection control policy. Explains the purpose and
nature of exams to patients to minimize anxiety and facilitate
cooperation. Addresses patients' questions and concerns
satisfactorily, notifying physicians when necessary before
initiating procedures. Participates in training and orientation of
departmental employees. Provides preparatory instructions and
explanations of procedures to patients. Ensures concise and legible
documentation using precise terminology. Reads departmental emails
daily and follows through with assignments. Completes mandatory
education without prompting. Produces acceptable images
consistently, evidenced by radiologist feedback and quality audits.
Ensures equipment is fully operational before use, checking for
calibration and operating deficiencies. Sends studies to PACS
immediately after completion and scans reports into PACS when
applicable. Restocks linens and supplies, maintaining department
cleanliness and orderliness. Transports and positions patients and
assists them on and off procedure tables. Performs patient charging
activities on the day services are rendered. Applies necessary
shielding, support, and immobilization devices. Willingly shares
knowledge and lends assistance as needed. Performs clerical and
support duties as necessary to ensure service continuity. Keeps
supervisors informed of responsibilities and potential problems.
Maintains productivity rates in line with co-workers. Operates all
workstations associated with the CT department effectively. Pushes
and retrieves images from the CT console to PACS. Maintains
compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory agency
standards. Takes call when necessary. Performs other duties as
